This will be the CCA\u2019s first conference held independently of the Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences of Canada, which is <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.federationhss.ca\/en\/announcement-congress-2026-may-2025\" target=\"_blank\">not hosting<\/a> a Congress in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All concurrent panel sessions will take place in the University of Windsor&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/maps.mapsted.com\/uwindsor?entity=21\" target=\"_blank\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Dillon Hall <\/mark><\/a>(click \u201cIndoor Map\u201d and change floor to 3 to see layout).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Information for Presenters<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>All panel sessions are 90 minutes. The panel chair will introduce the speakers, who will present for 15 minutes each. Please keep to your allotted time. The panel chair will facilitate a Q&amp;A.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All the Dillon Hall classrooms feature built-in PCs or HDMI connections for external laptops. Attendees wishing to run their presentation off a laptop with only USB-C outputs should bring their own adapter.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We encourage panelists to coordinate their slide presentations to facilitate quick transitions between presentations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Information for Panel Chairs<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Before the conference, contact your panelists to discuss details and share tech information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When your panel begins, welcome the audience, introduce each speaker\/paper title, and make sure presenters keep to their allotted 15-minutes. Keeping to time is equitable practice, as it ensures that each presenter receives equal time, that we have enough time for a Q&amp;A, and that the next session can start on time\/people can have a break. (Panelists in sessions with three papers may have a few more minutes, it\u2019s up to the panelists to decide).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Typically, we stick to the order of presentations listed in the program. Presenters may speak in English or French.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presenters can show slides. All the Dillon Hall classrooms (where all panels take place) feature built-in PCs or HDMI connections for external laptops. As Michael Darroch notes in his essay \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/hms.mediastudies.press\/pub\/am-darroch\/release\/2\" target=\"_blank\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Borderline Cases: Crossing Borders in Canadian Communication Studies, 1960s\u20131980s<\/mark><\/a>,\u201d the idea to form the Canadian Communication Association was first proposed at a conference at the University of Windsor in 1978.&nbsp;\u201cWindsor thus played an important but underreported role in establishing the CCA as a cross-nation initiative for the field of Canadian communication studies,\u201d Darroch writes. We look forward to meeting in Windsor to continue our almost-fifty-year tradition of gathering for research and knowledge exchange, stimulating conversation, and connecting with colleagues from across the country.
